Another Shade of Grey
Introduction
"They talk about the world as neither a good nor a evil place. They say that it's all a bunch
of shades of grey. Can you believe that drek? The world's gone black chummer. Blacker than black.
Evil is running everywhere. For the price of a cup of Joe you can have somebody killed. Drugs? Forget
drugs, for the price of a meal you can get a chip and plug it into your skull that will make Heroin seem like
Caffeine. It's getting so you have to plant landmines outside of your apartment just to keep your neighbors from
sneaking in and offing you in your sleep. Politics? Ha! If you have a System Identification Number (SIN as they call them)
you can vote. Yah, you can vote for whoever the corps want to represent them. And the corps? Hell since they own the cops now it's become all
out war between them. And it's even worse between the rest of us looking for food to eat where they don't bother to send patrols because we ain't
rich enough. Yah it's grey alright. Grey from the smog the robotic plants put out every day, all day, and all night even.
If this what they mean by grey, I don't want any part of it, I want another shade of grey."...Anonymous, Spring 2056
Welcome to Shadowrun, Chummer
It's the spring of 2056, and the world is not the bright Utopia that the SF authors of the past wrote of. Instead it is a bleak
world where if you don't work for the corps, or the government (which is virtually owned by the corps), you starve. If you don't
have a System Identification Number (SIN), then you don't exist, and have no rights. In this world all but declared war exists between the
massive, multi-national conglomerate companies. The Internet has been chewed up, swallowed, digested, and regurgitated with a new high-speed
virtual reality network known as the matrix. The reality of the matrix is so overwhelming, that you can die in there. With your computer having
a direct neural connection to your brain this can be very unpleasant to say the least. Magic has returned to the world, and with it the wonders and
horrors that it has always had. Dragons roam the land, as do the undead. As always happens, a few people manage to slip through the
cracks in the system. These people tend to find work doing tasks that companies need performed, but also need to disavow should the task be discovered.
You are one such person... you are... A Shadowrunner.
So what Makes ASOG Different?
Well for one, ASOG characters are from the lighter shades of grey. While they are still basically criminals, they tend to be so for the
right cause. They tend to choose the harder path, the path of honor and courage. Never ones to take the easy way out, they stick by their
guns, their friends, and their party members. ASOG Shadowrunners are the Earps of the Shadowrun world. Still looking out for themselves first,
they try to do the right thing as much as possible. If this sounds like you, join us.
